Hot At The SPCA

Boy was it humid and hot today when helping the SPCA. I felt sorry for the dogs being out there for 4 hours. Of course they had plenty of water and food and could go into the air conditioned van for a break. There sure were some cute ones out today. Some of these animals stories are so sad. I held a little 10 year old mixed breed named Peaches. She came in with a broken jaw and had to have her mouth wired shut for several weeks. She was such a lap dog I can't even imagine someone having broken her jaw. Then there was the 5 month old mixed breed puppy. He played so hard the first 3 hours he was wiped out by the time we left. He was sleeping so soundly he had to be picked up a carried to the van. Believe me he was a arm full. He is going to be a big dog someday, but so sweet. The cats have it made because they get to stay in the air conditioned glass fronted van the entire time. There was one big gold and white cat that reminded me of my cat. I hope some of the cuties get adopted very soon.

I am so glad you volunteered once again Wanda. Yes, sad how even animals are abused by humans. Glad you were to snuggle with a few today. Blessings.

I think it's fantastic that you volunteer at the SPCA. It's one of my favorite causes (along with the World Wildlife Fund). I hope you feel good about yourself for spending your time that way. You are a great person, Wanda.

Wishing you well,
NOS

I have two rescue cats (along with the four other cats I already had.) You can see one of them at http://animalanarchy.blogspot.com if you like. One of them gets his picture taken more often but that's because he's the one that always comes to my work area/the couch. He's super affectionate but for the first month that I had him my hand really suffered because he was always attacking it when I was sleeping. He's better about that now.

I emailed an animal rescue a week and a half ago about adopting a dog. I filled out their online application and everything. I emailed them again around four or five days ago. No one has contacted me and I'm starting to think they don't want people who are not experienced dog owners. I've been trying not to think about that darling cocker who made me send those emails. But I still wish he could be mine. My kids and I would love him so well. But now I'm trying not to think of him because it just makes me sad.
