Looking For Information
I'm on permanent disability and my Medicare goes into effect December 1, 2008. I am on a lot of expensive medications. I in fact I will reach the " doughnut hole" the first month I am on Medicare. The major problem is my monthly medications cost more than my disability check. I am told I make to much money to get state assistance. Has anyone else ran into this type of problem or know of any type of programs to help?

sorry, right now I am not in that boat. My hospitalixation comes as part of my medical retiement as well as perscription coverage. I sorry that you are in this bind.Who know what will happen to me in the futuer if the state starts chargeing me more for the cost of the perscription coverage.
Wanda,
I am so sorry that I don't have any advice to offer. Just wanted to say I am thinking of you and what a horrible thing to have to deal with. Medication just should not be so expensive - it is CRAZY!
Hugs,
Tamara
I am so sorry. I wish i had something to say that helps. Facts are with all my illnesss, and the fact only one is covered under health insurance (my bleeding disorder) I am kind of in the same boat. The costs for all my meds, and even my doctor appts are paid out of pocket! We struggle with this cost. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs.
This is a bunch of bull, i do not understand any of this either. But i think you can also apply for Medi-Cal
while you are on Medicare. I have been taking care of elderly people for about 8 years now, and i know that one of my clients had both. So see if you can be covered for medications only. It wouldn't hurt to try.....I'll pray o.k......
((((HUGS)))) and Blessings,
Love,Stacy
go to the websites for each medication you take, for example pfitzer. They all have programs for people with no insurance. They send forms for you and your doctors to fill out or perhaps to be filled out online. If you qualify and you totally should, then they will send your meds free of charge to your doctors office each month. Alot of doctors know bout this and can do it for you. But just go ahead and do it yourself, look up each med online and and that will lead you to the company that makes it and they will have a link for those who cant afford it, are low income and dont have insurance. Also, most doctors have samples of alot of meds they can give you. Ask for samples.

there those are addresses to 4 major drug companies, Eli Lilly, Pfitzer, Glaxo SMithKlein and AStraZeneca. That should give you a good start.
Now that's a hell of a thing--how can you "make too much money" when you are unable to make any money??? That doesn't make any damn sense!
Have you tried contacting the companies that manufacture the medications? Sometimes they have assistance programs. My ex sister in law was getting some of her meds free when she was unemployed.
Wanda
Montel Williams is a sponsor of finding pharmaceutical companies that will help with medications they manufacture. Also, here is a link to try http://www.freemedicinerevolution.com/?gclid=CJH27cXgmJUCFQKHxwodoh3bEA

You are living the story of our life right now.
Could you go directly to the drug company and see if they have any assistance programs?
